Resurrection Ov The Kult (CD 2005)

Eine recht kurzweilige Angelegenheit ist die aktuelle CD der österreichischen Formation Stormnatt geworden. Ein Intro und fünf teils überlange Stücke hat man auf diese CD gebannt. Musikalisch ist man sicherlich von der guten alten Norwegen-Schule beeinflusst, was aber nichts mit Abkupferei zu tun hat. Um es vowegzunehmen: Diese CD knallt wesentlich frischer als das, was heutzutage einige der früheren Vorzeigebands aus Skandinavien zustande bringen. Hier gibt es dunkle Energie pur und das ohne Keyboards, Frauengesänge und sonstigen Firlefanz!
Die Produktion klingt roh (was sonst?), das Schlagzeug mir perönlich etwas zu blechern, aber dafür ist die Gitarrenarbeit überaus gelungen, aggressiv und dennoch melodisch. Tempomäßig geht es zumeist schnell zur Sache, aber die Band ist auch in der Lage, langsamere, depressive Songs zu schreiben wie z.B. "Upon The Shores Of Solitude Pt. II", die verzweifelten Schreie am Anfang sorgen eigentlich alleine schon für ein entsprechendes Feeling. Als weiteren Anspieltipp möchte ich auf jeden Fall noch das abwechslungsreiche "The Decay Of Time And Life" nennen. Einen schwachen Song hat die CD nicht. Ich muss schon sagen, alles in allem eine wirklich gelungene Scheibe, die mir immer besser gefällt, je öfter ich sie höre.

The actual CD of the austrian formation Stormnatt has come out as a quite entertaining creation. An intro and five partly over-length pieces can be found on this CD. Musically the guys are certainly influenced by the good ole' Norwegian school, which does not mean that they plagiarized, though. To come to the point: this CD bangs in much more freshly than the platters some of the former leading bands in the scene bring about nowadays. On here there can be found pure dark energy without keyboards, female vocals or other falderal!
The production sounds raw (how else?), the drums sound somewhat too tinny to me but therefor the guitar work has turned out very well, aggressive and yet melodic. The tempo is mostly fast but the band is also capable to play slower, more depressive songs as e.g. "Upon The Shores Of Solitude Pt. II". The desperate cries in the beginning alone already create a correlative feeling. As another song tip I definetly also want to name the diversified "The Decay Of Time And Life". A weak song cannot be found on the CD. I have to say it's all in all a truly successful platter which I like better the more I listen to it.
